ILRI seminars

Information and reports from the seminars

Next seminar: to be announced.

ILRI has always been organizing various seminars. However many of these seminars have been organized by a specific team, on a specific topic that concerns a select audience. The promotion and documentation of these seminars has also not always been optimal. Since 2012, ILRI want to get serious about organizing high profile seminars - Livestock live talks - that concern us all, around general issues of interest for ILRI's agenda and for a wider set of agencies and individuals working around development research on livestock and related issues.

This wiki is your one-stop-shop for all information related to our 'livestock live talk' seminars!

On this wiki you will therefore find:

  • The list of upcoming seminars and ideas for subsequent seminars
  • A checklist for you to follow if you want to organize one of these high profile seminars (with some support)
  • Documentation about previous seminars held to keep track of these relevant conversations - though better check Information and reports form the seminars
  • Background information about this series of seminars (below)

In the future we might add a calendar to display all seminars planned.

Background information: What are these seminars about and how are they organized?

This presentation gives you some background information about this series of seminars and how they are organized: File:20120713_ILRI seminar proposal v 3.2.ppt Essentially, these seminars are monthly, last one hour, are facilitated (in Nairobi and Addis) and broadcast via WebEx to other ILRI offices worldwide and are documented live on Yammer and afterwards on a blog post for future reference. They aim to increase awareness of ILRI staff and partners of research topics of importance to ILRI, including the wider research context, and to provide a space and platform for conversations.

Who is involved in organizing these seminars?

Following a Management Committee meeting held in Addis Ababa in May 2012, a seminar committee was set up, with representatives from all teams and parts of ILRI:

  • Angela Nekesa Wafula
  • Ewen Le Borgne
  • Nancy Moss
  • Silvia Silvestri
  • Susan MacMillan
  • Tadelle Dessie
  • Tezira Lore
  • Vish Nene

You can also organize one of these seminars, follow the checklist.
