Overview

Some 40 people gathered in the John Vercoe Auditorium at the ILRI Nairobi campus to attend the talk. The mixed audience consisted of ILRI staff and students, as well as a few non-ILRI staff including a final-year veterinary student from the University of Nairobi and Brian Perry, honorary professor at the universities of Edinburgh and Pretoria and visiting professor at the University of Oxford, who previously worked at ILRI and was the leader of the research team on animal health and food safety for trade [now called "animal health, food safety and zoonoses"].

Listening in via WebEx were colleagues from the ILRI Addis campus as well as outposted staff Emily Ouma (ILRI Uganda), Nils Teufel (ILRI India), Saskia Hendrickx and Siboniso Moyo (ILRI Mozambique), and Robert Onzima from the Nelson Mandela Africa Institute of Science and Technology in Arusha, Tanzania.

The planned panel discussion which was to follow the talk did not take place, due to unavoidable circumstances.
